Anlu Li Bai Memorial Museum

Located in Baizhao Mountain Scenic Area of Anlu, Hubei Province, Anlu Li Bai Memorial Museum is the largest Li Bai memorial museum in China in area. First opened to the public in 2012, it underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2025 under the plan of upgrading Baizhao Mountain to a 5A-level scenic area and reopened with a new look in early 2026. Diameter Narration undertook the whole process of curation, design and construction. Anlu is an important long-term residence of Li Bai, who married and raised a family here at 27, lived for more than a decade and created over 200 poems, making the memorial museum the core cultural venue of Baizhao Mountain cultural tourism scenic area.
The renovation defined four core curatorial keywords: Cultural Tourism Foundation, Contemporary Narration, Romanticism and Local Perspective. Based on the attributes of a exhibition hall in a cultural tourism scenic spot and targeting ordinary tourists and research groups, it made up for the lack of cultural relics with new technologies and interactive installations, and improved supporting commercial and service facilities. Abandoning the traditional mode of historical reproduction and deification of figures, the curation combined contemporary research such as human geography and big data analysis to shape a vivid Li Bai from a first-person perspective. It created a romantic and poetic exhibition in line with Li Bai's spirit through text visualization and scene artistry. With the core concept of "Telling Li Bai of Anlu and telling Li Bai in Anlu", it built three thematic floors, taking into account both the local perspective of Anlu and the comprehensive interpretation of Li Bai's culture on each floor. The project constructs an immersive and experiential narrative space for historical figures, creating a new curatorial paradigm for historical figure exhibition halls in cultural tourism scenic spots.
