Dream State Installation

Dream State transforms the historic Tositsa 3 building in central Athens into a living, dreaming organism through a public light installation that blends architecture, memory, and urban life.

The concept emerged during a moment of transition, a brief pause between tenants, when the building stood temporarily empty. Using light as the primary medium, the work evokes rhythms of breathing, rest, and subconscious movement, bringing an empty building to ‘life’. The façade becomes a threshold between an invisible interior condition and the urban fabric.

Programmed light sequences generate gradual color and movement transitions, creating a breathing-like rhythm across the building. Light is travelling though the building’s interior, eliminating walls and floors, preserving the architectural integrity while introducing depth, layering, and spatial ambiguity between interior and exterior.

Rather than confined within a gallery, Dream State is experienced by the city itself. Through light and subtle motion, the installation forms a language of dreaming, minimal, abstract, and quietly immersive.

For the first time in decades, Tositsa 3 is allowed to rest, holding its memories while preparing, in stillness, for its next chapter.
