The project is located in Shenzhen’s Nanshan Science and Technology Park, a high-density financial district defined by efficiency and capital. The client’s business profile—simultaneously involved in A-shares and U.S. stocks—further complicates the spatial requirements: the same space must serve different user groups, respond to different functions, and accommodate different working modes at different times.

The core design challenge is: how can we maintain the professionalism and sense of privacy expected of a financial space while breaking away from the industry’s conventional tendencies toward “solemnity, enclosure, and routinization”?

This challenge is broken down into four specific questions:

How to establish trust and brand identity at first glance when clients visit?

How to resolve, rather than merely disguise, the rigid circulation caused by the core-and-envelope structure?

How to meet the flexibility demands of crosstimezone operations without adding partitions?

How to gently update traditional financial clients’ perceptions of what “quality” means in a space?

The design does not avoid these questions; instead, it transforms them into the organizing logic of the space itself. Drawing inspiration from Wall Street financial culture and Shenzhen’s urban character, the concept is defined as “Eastern culture as the frame, Western thinking as the axis.” The “domino effect” serves as the narrative thread—exploring how a restrained design gesture can trigger a chain reaction in spatial function, experience, and brand perception.

Structurally, a “double-loop” circulation system replaces traditional wallbased zoning. In materiality, rammedearth texture is juxtaposed with mirrored metal panels, creating a dialogue between Eastern calm and Western rationality. The project unfolds across three dimensions—circulation, materiality, and narrative—attempting to achieve the most extensible spatial expression with the most restrained design means.
