Set within the urban context of Hangzhou, Hiwell Zhongtian·Anpu responds to the demand for refined contemporary living through a restrained design approach. Guided by “Crafting a Tranquil Realm,” the project establishes a unified spatial language of timber, natural stone, and hand-finished metal. Controlled material expression and calibrated light define a calm, time-infused environment where function, emotion, and aesthetics converge into a cohesive spatial experience.

Anpu is a villa in Hangzhou that reinterprets contemporary quiet luxury through spatial continuity, restrained materiality, and a calm, immersive atmosphere.

MDO approaches the project as a coherent living system rather than a collection of rooms, where daily life, nature, and material quietly interweave. Wood, stone, and bronze form a consistent tactile foundation, shaping a space that feels grounded, refined, and timeless. Luxury is expressed through proportion, light, and detail rather than excess.

The project responds to evolving expectations of contemporary residential living, where spatial value extends beyond function to emotional and experiential qualities. The client required a home that supports both daily family life and layered social interactions while maintaining privacy and calmness. This includes a strong connection between indoor living spaces and the garden environment, a kitchen redefined as a social and family interaction hub, flexible spatial configurations that support gathering, retreat, and circulation, and a coherent spatial atmosphere with reduced visual fragmentation. The design reframes the residence as a lifestyle framework rather than a fixed functional layout.
