About The Entry
Inspired by Yue Lao, the traditional deity of matchmaking, this jewelry
collection reinterprets the iconic “Two Dragons Guarding a Pearl” motif
commonly found on the rooftops of traditional Taiwanese temples through
contemporary metalworking techniques. The collection explores themes of
protection, connection, and the invisible bonds that unite people through fate.
Flowing, intertwined lines symbolize the Red Thread of Fate, illustrating the
journey from an initial encounter to the formation of a meaningful emotional
connection. Colorful inlaid elements draw inspiration from Jiǎnnián (traditional
Taiwanese ceramic mosaic art) and Koji pottery ornamentation, employing
vibrant colors to represent the memories, emotions, and life experiences that
shape human relationships.
The ring features interwoven forms encircling a central sphere, symbolizing a
cherished bond and the commitment that gradually develops through
companionship. The necklace extends this concept through converging
curves that draw attention to a protected central pendant, expressing the
gradual alignment of two separate destinies. The earrings reinterpret the
dragon motif as elegant spirals, representing companionship, continuity, and
the significance of meaningful encounters.
Moonlit Bonds: Yue Lao’s Red Thread of Fate combines traditional cultural
symbolism with contemporary jewelry design, transforming architectural
heritage into wearable art. The collection conveys the belief that meaningful
relationships are not merely coincidental, but rather profound connections that
are gently protected and nurtured over time.
