About The Entry
The project is guided by the concept that “Lingnan Culture and Song Dynasty aesthetics ultimately become everyday life.” Drawing inspiration from the thousand-year cultural heritage of the Lu region and the refined aesthetics of the Song Dynasty, it creates a low-density villa community in the provincial government district through the idea of a hidden garden—half immersed in the city, half embraced by nature.
The landscape is organized through a spatial framework of “Two Axes, Three Entrances, Five Gardens, and Six Alleys,” establishing a layered sequence of arrival, transition, gathering, and retreat. Through the design approach of “art integrated into the garden,” natural elements are transformed into an everyday living backdrop, allowing culture, landscape, and daily life to become inseparable.
A defining characteristic of the project is its exceptional level of craftsmanship and material execution. The main entrance, Fengyuhua Gate, incorporates 2,200 custom-made glazed tiles and traditional column-and-arch construction techniques. Its realization required more than 7,000 hours of construction and over 170,000 individual fabrication and installation processes, while the metal claw connections were specially customized to meet demanding performance requirements.
The sunken courtyard, known as the Boat Bridge Waterfall, creates a dramatic waterfall landscape across an elevation change of approximately 7.8 meters. Its construction required the careful integration of waterproofing systems, structural stability, and stone installation within a highly complex topographic setting.
Additional challenges included the precise structural alignment of an approximately 70-meter-long covered corridor and the curved-surface craftsmanship of the jade tree court. Together, these details demonstrate the project's commitment to material quality, construction precision, and the creation of a distinctive residential landscape experience.
