LUX Bay, Dalian

Located in Dalian Development Zone, the project introduces the area's first fourth-generation residential community and its first sunken clubhouse, building a new residential landscape model for emerging urban living.

Facing the challenges of a compact site, limited landscape area above the clubhouse, and multiple infrastructure constraints, the design transforms restrictions into opportunities through a multi-layered spatial strategy. A network of elevated corridors, central landscape spaces, and a sunken courtyard creates a vertically integrated community environment that enriches circulation, activity, and social interaction.

Inspired by the poetry of everyday life and Dalian's coastal identity, the landscape reinterprets the city's relationship with the sea through contemporary spatial design. The arrival sequence combines a hotel-inspired drop-off experience with sculptural landmarks, while the artwork Lanxi abstracts the movement of ocean waves and the changing colors of the sea and sky, creating a distinctive sense of place.

The sunken courtyard serves as the social heart of the community, connected to upper-level landscapes through artistic corridors that extend visual continuity and strengthen the relationship between architecture and landscape. Warm natural materials, layered planting, and carefully choreographed spatial sequences create an immersive residential environment that balances tranquility, interaction, and everyday comfort.

Through the integration of vertical landscape systems, coastal cultural references, and human-centered design, the project establishes a contemporary residential landscape that redefines community living within a compact urban setting.
