About The Entry

YANGSHUO GIFTS is a souvenir packaging initiative rooted in a celebrated cultural and tourism destination in Southwest China. With a focus on local agricultural specialties including kumquat shortbread and pineapple cake, it advances social welfare goals tied to rural revitalization and cultural tourism promotion.

It draws inspiration from the calligraphic forms inscribed for Yangshuo Port by renowned historical figures, refining their structure and reinterpreting them in a contemporary style. This transforms the artistic flow of traditional calligraphy into a modern visual identity for the brand, which is applied to trademarks and tote bag designs to evoke a timeless link between the past and the present. From this foundation, it weaves Yangshuo's mountains and rivers, pastoral landscapes, villages and daily life subtly into the letter structures and packaging visuals, elevating the region's natural scenery and cultural memories into a portable emblem of local culture.

Visually, it further introduces bronze drums and constellations as two cross-cultural visual schemas to establish a distinctive temporal framework: As an emblem of agrarian civilization and ritual culture in Southwest China, bronze drums embody the seasonal rhythms and collective memories that bind people to the land. Constellations, as an abstract articulation of cosmic order, expand the visual perspective from regional experience to a universal understanding of time and space. Together, these two elements form a dual dimension of earth and sky, elevating the packaging of local specialties into a cultural framework centered on time and order.

To accommodate diverse specifications and proportions, this packaging design adopts a layout strategy of harmony with subtle variation, allowing landscapes and product information to unfold with rhythmic changes and visual order reminiscent of the natural cycles of heaven and earth across different sizes. It also optimizes internal spacing through precise structural engineering, cutting down on material use and shipping costs while improving portability for travelers. Additionally, it combines a universal packaging structure with a replaceable belly band system, enabling clear differentiation and flexible arrangement for multi-flavor products, and thus forging a cohesive design solution that balances cultural expression, commercial efficiency and sustainable strategies.
