About The Entry

DeBug is an immersive therapeutic system for childhood entomophobia, integrating Sony Spatial Reality Display (SRD), toio™ programmable robots, XR exposure therapy, multimodal sensing, and AI-generated content (AIGC). The system follows a progressive intervention framework of Perceive – Assess – Intervene – Translate. Using an OLED handheld device, children first discover and collect insects in the real world. The system then monitors physiological signals in real time to identify the type and intensity of fear. Through gesture-based interaction with glasses-free 3D virtual insects, users gradually develop a sense of control and engagement. Finally, AI-powered visual translation reconstructs children’s emotional perception of insects, fostering a safer and more positive cognitive association through progressive exposure. DeBug presents an innovative approach to digital mental healthcare and next-generation immersive therapeutic design in the AI era.
