Monochrome Muse Residence

This project is a fully realized living-and-dining residence designed for a fashion content creator with a deep appreciation for timeless style, craftsmanship, and visual storytelling. Inspired by the black-and-white language of classic French couture, the design translates the discipline and elegance of fashion into a contemporary home that supports both personal living and creative expression.

The core challenge was transforming the atmosphere of a couture atelier into a functional residential environment. As a fashion influencer, the homeowner required a space that could serve as a comfortable home, a backdrop for content creation, and a setting for personal collections and social gatherings. The design explores the balance between a curated visual identity and genuine residential comfort.

An open circulation plan connects the living room, dining area, and bar into a continuous social landscape. A sculptural black-and-white rug flows through the space like a ribbon, defining functional zones while maintaining visual unity. The modular sectional sofa adapts to varied social scenarios, while the marble dining table offers flexibility for both intimate meals and larger gatherings.

Materiality is the foundation of the spatial narrative. Dramatic black-veined marble introduces natural artistry, while brushed bronze details echo couture craftsmanship through refined furniture silhouettes. A shadow-boxed display wall, framed in stone and dark lacquer with concealed backlighting, transforms conventional storage into a gallery-like backdrop for fashion objects, artworks, and personal collections. Sculptural pieces — including the velvet lounge chair, striped ottoman, and architectural floor lamp — merge practical function with collectible design value.

The originality of this project lies in redefining luxury through personal identity. Rather than reproducing fashion imagery, the design extracts the deeper values of couture — individuality, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance — transforming them into a living system. The result is a home that functions as both a private sanctuary and a visual stage, reflecting the homeowner's fashion-driven lifestyle while maintaining lasting comfort and adaptability.
