About The Entry
The project is situated in a city renowned for its numerous natural spring water. The architecture draws inspiration from the famous lines of the poet Li Bai: “Flying torrents plunge three thousand feet down, as if the Silver River cascaded from the highest heaven,” highlighting the culture of mountains and water.
For cultural traceability, the landscape design draws inspiration from the ink landscape of traditional Chinese painting, applying it to contemporary landscapes to create a poetic realm of “Hidden Water, Return to Serenity” within the urban context. In spatial planning, the landscape integrates the culture of “mountains and water” into the site through various interpretations of traditional Chinese landscapes, including “waterfalls,” “mirror lakes,” “mountain streams,” “flowing brooks,” “bubbling spring water,” and “pool waters.”
At the main entrance, the concept of “Sea” and “Penglai”(a legendary land of Chinese mythology) is introduced, with a large water body to the south symbolizing “all rivers flow into the sea,” and three standing stones within the water representing the mythical isles. The sunken plaza, titled “Deep Streams and Ravines,” utilizes the site’s elevation differences to create a canyon-like atmosphere, while a flowing water wall evokes the imagery of “clear spring water flowing over stones.” The rooftop garden, conceived as an “Oasis in the Sky,” provides a recreational and social space for office personnel.
The design adheres to the principle of creating more open spaces within the limited outdoor area, providing additional plazas, shaded green spaces, and courtyard gardens to serve office workers and the public, creating a public urban nature retreat for the community. Following the principles of green ecology, low-maintenance planting techniques are adopted. The plant selection features locally adapted trees and shrubs that enhance regional suitability. All landscape irrigation water is sourced from collected rainwater and municipal reclaimed water. The site paving uses light-colored materials with a solar reflectance index (SRI) of no less than 0.33, utilizing sand-based fully permeable materials to mitigate the urban heat island effect. Upon completion, the project achieved LEED V4 certification and Three-Star Green Building Design certification, becoming a classic case of urban landscape ecological construction.
