About The Entry

Located in the old urban district of Nanning, Guangxi, the project responds to the city’s dual identity as the “Green City of China” and the “Water City of Southern China”. Focusing on Nanning’s local culture, the design integrates Eastern aesthetics with contemporary interpretations. Taking the city’s mountains and waterways as its green foundation and drawing on its thousand-year water heritage, the project creates a refined residential landscape that combines elegant aesthetics, sophisticated living, and a welcoming sense of homecoming.

The project continues the spatial traditions of Chinese residences. Through precise control of scale and detail, it creates a garden-like living experience. Water serves as the foundation of the landscape, integrating regional landscape traditions with contemporary living needs. Residents can move through a calm and harmonious environment while enjoying a comfortable and refined daily lifestyle.

The project pays tribute to Nanning’s distinctive urban aesthetics by extracting local visual symbols and developing a unique cultural identity for the community. Inspired by the begonia flower, a customized cultural emblem is created to establish a distinctive sense of belonging. By developing a contemporary identity rooted in Nanning, the project explores the emotional connection between residents and their hometown.

The project enhances everyday life through diverse spatial scenarios. Inspired by hotel-style forest gardens, the landscape creates a high-quality living environment through layered spaces and themed gardens. Different planting themes are integrated with functional areas, including a tranquil Chinese tallow tree garden, tropical-inspired garden scenes, and private natural retreats, creating a peaceful and intimate landscape experience.

Since its completion, the project has received positive feedback from residents for introducing a new living experience within Nanning’s historic urban context. Through customized landscape design, high-quality living spaces, and a strong sense of place, the project explores new possibilities for contemporary residential living.
