About The Entry

In Saudi Arabia, the challenge of made-to-measure thobes is not simply achieving the right fit, but reproducing it consistently. Measurements, customization requests, and tailoring decisions still move through hand measurements, verbal communication, paper records, and individual expertise. An analysis of 12,223 customer reviews across 130 tailors in 15 Saudi cities revealed recurring concerns around alterations, customization errors, and delivery delays, showing how easily craftsmanship can be lost between measurement and production.

SmartTailor reimagines this process through a Body–Garment Digital Twin system. A 3D body scan creates a digital representation of the customer, while the thobe becomes a second digital twin built from real garment patterns, fabrics, and construction parameters. Virtual fitting brings the two together, evaluating body shape, garment ease, silhouette, and critical fit areas such as the collar and closure before the garment is made.

At its core, AI-powered Smart Grading ****translates more than 250 fashion-specific body parameters into individualized pattern adjustments. Rather than uniformly scaling a standard size, the pattern adapts non-linearly to the customer’s unique body shape. Once the fit and design are confirmed, the same data flows directly into factory-ready DXF cutting patterns and production instructions, connecting body, garment, pattern, and manufacturing through a single digital workflow.

For a customer’s first order, virtual fitting is followed by one physical validation before the remaining garments are produced. The verified fit can then remain as a personalized digital tailoring asset for future orders, reducing repeated interpretation and alterations while preserving the confidence of physical fitting.

SmartTailor does not seek to replace the tailor. It makes tailoring expertise reproducible. By preserving the decisions traditionally held in the hands and experience of skilled makers as digital data, it extends the precision and personalization of traditional thobe-making into a scalable production system.

SmartTailor redefines digital fashion not as clothing made to exist on a screen, but as a source of truth for physical making, connecting body to garment, garment to pattern, and pattern to the final thobe.
