Located at the intersection of a dense residential neighborhood and the historic American Bandstand, this project reimagines the residential tower as a mixed-use environment for musicians, integrating housing, rehearsal, performance, and shared creative spaces within a single vertical community.

The project began with the question of how architecture can support both private artistic practice and public cultural engagement. Its proximity to a landmark associated with music and performance became a catalyst for exploring how creative life could become embedded within everyday residential experience.The design process was informed by graphic studies inspired by the gestural quality and improvisational energy of Jackson Pollock’s paintings. These investigations explored movement, layering, rhythm, and spatial sequencing, ultimately shaping the organization and expression of the building.

Rather than separating living from creative practice, the tower brings these programs into close proximity. Alongside residential amenities such as a lobby, study spaces, offices, and fitness areas, the project introduces acoustically designed rehearsal rooms and an intimate performance stage. These shared spaces support individual practice, spontaneous collaboration, and informal performance, creating opportunities for exchange among residents while connecting the building to a broader cultural community.The façade extends this musical logic into architectural form. Shifting curvature establishes a sense of rhythm, while overlapping surfaces suggest imitation and layered depth reflects the structure of polyphony. Instead of functioning as a static elevation, the envelope reads as a composition of interacting elements in which repetition and variation generate movement and tension over time.

The project ultimately explores architecture as an active framework for creative life. By combining housing, rehearsal, performance, and community spaces, it proposes a new model of residential design in which artistic practice is not isolated from daily life, but integrated into it. The result is a vertical community that supports both individual focus and collective exchange, allowing architecture to become both a place to live and an instrument for creative connection.
