LIVON SUMMIT

LIVON SUMMIT, located in Changchun, draws on the city’s modern-era architectural heritage to explore a contemporary residential expression rooted in local identity. Arched forms, tripartite proportions, and warm-toned stone characteristic of Changchun’s historic architecture are extracted and reinterpreted through a contemporary architectural language.

The masterplan is structured by two intersecting axes. The north-south axis establishes a symmetrical arrangement of the residential buildings and a clear overall order. The east-west axis extends inward from the adjacent urban green space, linking the forecourt landscape, entrance, sunken courtyard, and clubhouse into a continuous spatial sequence from the city edge to the interior of the community.

The façades reinterpret the compositional logic of Changchun’s historic architecture through arches, tripartite organization, and a consistent stone material palette. Moving beyond the conventional horizontal subdivision of residential façades, the design introduces a stepped, recessed base together with staggered and vertically lifted frame elements across the typical floors. These operations add depth to the building mass and establish a more layered vertical expression.

The entrance and clubhouse are organized around the sunken landscaped courtyard. Shared spaces extend primarily along the east-west axis, while the north-south direction accommodates facilities including the swimming pool and more private amenity spaces. Carefully detailed stone surfaces, natural light, landscape views, and the sunken courtyard together shape the communal experience.

Through the abstraction and reinterpretation of Changchun’s architectural heritage, LIVON SUMMIT incorporates regional characteristics into contemporary residential architecture, creating a living environment with a distinct sense of place.
