About The Entry

Taking "Jade Reflects Chang’an, Woods Nurture All Living Things" as its design philosophy, the project narrates a story of modern natural dwelling deeply rooted in Chang’an’s cultural heritage. Centered on the spatial philosophy of "jade", it interprets local culture to craft a "livable jade" that integrates desirable functionality and refined aesthetics for all. Through contemporary reinterpretation of historical context from three dimensions — spiritual core, spatial sensation and ambient atmosphere — it delivers an immersive journey spanning tradition and the future. The design of the main community entrance draws inspiration from the intrinsic virtues of ancient jade ritual wares such as jade discs: the noble moral character embodied in jade, and the misty ethereal beauty of Lantian jade. Reimagined with modern architectural textures, soft matte green ceramic panels abstractly convey the mild, gentle temperament of jade to the fullest. Rather than conventional boundary walls, the landscape feature wall serves as a preamble to this wooded sanctuary, a three-dimensional scroll of mountains and rivers painted with modern construction materials as brush and ink. Stepping into the community, visitors first encounter the landscape garden themed "Winding Waters Flow Through Wooded Islets". Inspired by Chang’an’s historic geographic layout of eight rivers encircling the city, the grand urban water system is miniaturized into still mirror pools in the display area, guiding brooks alongside meandering paths, and cascading waterfalls in the sunken courtyard. Water is no longer a separating barrier, but a vital thread running through the entire site, nourishing its lush woodland serenity. Next comes the layered mountain-and-water layout. Borrowing the tiered landscaping techniques of Tang-dynasty gardens, sunken courtyards and multi-level void decks transform the abstract poetic imagery of Tang and Song verses into tangible, sensory spaces and plant clusters. Multi-layered, densely planted greenery embeds cultural charm into residents’ daily routines, fostering profound bonds between humans and nature, with distinct scenery unfolding at every turn.
