About The Entry

Traditional womenswear retail spaces often prioritize product display at the expense of a cohesive brand identity and shopping experience. For LKDL, the challenge was to balance product presentation, customer circulation, and brand recognition within a limited space, while translating the softness of trousers into a distinctive spatial language. Inspired by the fluidity of fabric, the design transforms its natural drape and folds into continuous curves that extend across walls, display platforms, and shelving interfaces. Combined with an open layout and translucent curtains, these elements integrate product display, circulation, and visual openness, creating a retail environment that balances functionality, brand identity, and comfort. The space clearly showcases the silhouettes, fabrics, and details of the trousers while establishing a seamless customer flow that allows visitors to browse, compare, and select products with ease. The design also balances visual openness with environmental comfort. Through thoughtful display arrangements, unobstructed sightlines, and soft lighting, it reduces visual clutter and the sense of enclosure, creating a relaxed shopping atmosphere that reflects the brand’s identity. Rather than directly replicating the form of trousers, the design draws inspiration from the natural drape, folds, and fluid movement of fabric, translating these qualities into continuous curves that extend across walls, display platforms, and shelving interfaces. These curves establish a cohesive visual language and create layered backdrops for product presentation, unifying the brand concept, spatial structure, and material qualities while enhancing the space’s visual identity. The design coordinates the curved display surfaces with circulation areas to connect different product zones, allowing browsing, movement, and pauses to flow naturally. The continuous spatial language guides visual movement while creating a more seamless circulation experience, enabling customers to explore the space and products at their own pace. Translucent curtains filter natural light, while grey flooring, metal elements, and greenery create an open space inspired by the relaxed charm of French streets. Soft, transparent boundaries blur the distinction between indoors and outdoors, creating a light, comfortable shopping environment. LKDL transforms the softness of trousers into a tangible spatial experience, expressing women’s desire for comfort and freedom through gentle surfaces, natural light, and open layouts.
