About The Entry

Located in the rapidly developing southern area of Zhongshan City, the Guangdong Institute of Special Equipment Inspection and Research (SEI) Tower are set to define the skyline of the city. The development will be built in two phases and will be a first-class institute to improve capability to serve safety and quality inspection for special equipment. Setting a landmark for the region, SEI Towers 1 & 2 will accommodate various functions of inspection centers, research laboratories, offices and recreational spaces. The design concept revolves around movement and dynamism where the shifting of the boxes on the facade allow for structural cantilevers and balcony terraces to take place at certain levels, creating pockets of outdoor spaces for the users. The colour scheme is noteworthy. Extravagant use of blue on the exteriors mainly highlights the concept behind the corporate colour of GDSEI that also well explains the architectural elements involved. The skybridge links the two towers together with a rooftop sky garden for the users to enjoy the landscape and have connectivity with nature.
