Zhongshan OCT Harbour

Zhongshan OCT Harbour is a hydropolis urban resort that offers a multitude of water-based open-air theme parks, retails, entertainment facilities, office and residences.

The genesis of this project starts with the transformation of the port river and the ecology of its riverbanks. Through integrating regional characteristics of Zhongshan and local Lingnan-style architectural elements, we propose a large-scale urban cultural tourism complex to cater to a variety of user groups and activities. The comprehensive design provides solutions to an imminent need for higher quality urban renewal strategies and a sustainable framework for a future recreational destination.

The design takes advantage of the landscape to establish a "One Ring, Two Cores, Three Belts, and Six Districts" urban structure - One pedestrian-friendly circuit bridging the spatial experience of the business core and the recreational core; three main circulation belts to maintain flows between the river promenade, service residences and business activities; six thematic districts including a Leisure Retail District, Future Technology Theme Park District, Ecological Wetland District, Eco-Office District, LOHAS Residential District, and Comprehensive Business District.
