The owner of the residence is a modern, creative woman, reminiscent of the fashion designer, Ms. Coco Chanel. That was the inspiration for this design, a visual expression of modern fashion. This design utilizes modern minimalism as the tone and through lights and shadows defines the different areas of an open concept. Touches of warm color lighting embellish the design. The interplay of light and shadows provides the overall space a perception of layers. Through visual geometry and color, the space flows outward reflecting the desire to be free and uninhibited. Modern minimalistic light strips are staggered along the ceiling, and lighting and dashes of urban color bring life to the large swaths of white space. Floor lighting is projected to cast light and shadow, dividing the level of flooring. Large-leaf, green plants are placed around the room creating a gentle, soothing mood. A large, clear glass panel is placed in the master bedroom to match the client’s personality: open, generous, self-confident, and with nothing to hide. Lighting from beneath the bed illuminates the outline of the bed and emits a romantic glow. Traditional bathroom wall tiles are replaced instead by black glass, classy and elegant. Bathroom furnishings are wall-mounted to maintain the flow of open space. The special design of the sink area exhibits modern simplicity with its long, white counter and exposed, black scaffolding. Stylish wooden panels and clear glass semi-partitions accentuate the space with geometric twists. Above, square shapes and recessed lighting in the ceiling present a virtual illusion of interwoven layers. Stepping throughout the open space, one cannot help but be enthralled by the dance of light through shadows.
