The project site is situated in Shuangyue Bay, where particular natural landscape with two crescent-moon-like beaches and amazing sea view are found. Contradict to the organic growth pattern of the nearby fishing village, the simple form and tall volume has made the hotel a landmark in the district. With infinity pools, restaurants, entertainment, and so on, the hotel offers countless activities for visitors to spend their time. Moreover, outdoor sports activities and the discovery of the fishing village culture will be impressive for visitors as well.
During the design process, the architect had to deal with the challenges of, firstly, how to deal with the relationship between the high-density luxury resort hotel and the surrounding environment, especially the nearby existing fishing village; secondly, how to maximize the value of a hotel and to strike a balance between the interests of the developer and general public; thirdly, how to maximize the view of the surrounding landscape and ensure that all guest rooms and communal facilities would be provided with ocean views.
The form of the three high-rise towers is curved and smooth which is inspired by the weaving pattern, which is abstracted to form a hybridized pattern of moon and sea waves. Small building volumes are placed at the main pedestrian entrance fronting the beach to replicate the spatial scale of fishing village and to create a pedestrian friendly environment. The shape of the building and the facade texture are all derived from the beach and the ocean, aiming to arouse people's imagination of the ocean. The layout of the hotel guestroom towers creates a great experience where almost all spaces have unobstructed views towards the ocean with long balconies and jacuzzi for guestrooms.
With open building elevations, pedestrian-friendly landscape design and small rooftop villas, the intention is to craft a pleasant entrance plazas and beach plaza that guests will enjoy. The multi-level spatial sequence from public to private provides visitors with an open public space, but also space exclusively for hotel guests, striking a good balance between public interest and private interest.
