Gateway To Future

On the theme of sea, land, and air infrastructure development of Hong Kong, 'Gateway to Future', an outdoor installation located at Edinburgh Place, showcased why Hong Kong is poised to become the international gateway to GBA, the world’s springboard to China and Asia.



Situated in Central, the central business district (CBD) of Hong Kong, ‘Gateway to Future’ is definitely a distinctive and interesting installation in this hustle and bustle area. The idea of chessboard is to provide a rare leisure open space in Central and to relieve the oppression brought by district trait. Through the eye-catching chessboard and physical props, for example, container, rotatable sushi table, ship, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the team hope to evoke people to slow down their steps, throw off their worry, and HAVE FUN!



Apart from the leisure purpose, it is also an edutainment area to provide education and entertainment in all one. Installation embedded fun facts, animation, mini game and questions and answers related to Hong Kong infrastructure by playing with bespoke mobile game.



Besides, the application of bolding color formed a high contrast between the surrounding building and it lighten up the atmosphere. By adopting vivid color, the entire area is not only becoming more outstanding but also revitalize the metropolitan area, and injecting laughter, joyfulness and vitality.



With the ingenious chessboard design, there is an easter egg: it is able to see number '25' from the top view which symbolize the celebration of 25th anniversary of HKSAR.
