Agile Xishuang Linyu Marketing Center

In this project, great efforts have been made to seek common ground while preserving differences in the collision between contemporary art and local humanities of Xishuangbanna, a mysterious place the world aspires to visit because of its rich humanistic sentiments, colorful ethnic customs and the splendid landscapes. Based on folk culture and living experiences, the designers aim to pay homage to local humanities and create a humanistic space in the secret realm of Xishuangbanna. A variety of sculptural hangings and ornaments, together with pristine vegetation, coconut branches, auspicious white elephants, and animated peacocks with distinctive Dai characteristics help people better appreciate the local culture of Dai Nationality. Besides, following the Taoist idea of “Unity of Heaven and Humanity”, the designers have deepened the people’s impression and emotions of Xishuangbanna by combining traditional handicrafts with the deconstruction of the Jinghong Great Pagoda Temple, a treasure of Hinayana Buddhism culture. Within this context, the inexhaustible allure of the combination of traditional customs of the Dai Nationality and modern art has been explored, creating an immersive aesthetic experience of life and developing a ground-breaking space model of extraordinary taste, in the midst of the unspoiled nature, the veins of ancient cultures and the philosophy of contemporary life.
