Longhua Urban Hall Project

The project is a spatial alteration of Longhua Gallery, located in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. It is a single two-story architecture, and the height of each floor is 7m and the total height of 19.9m. The first floor covers an area of about 1,650m2 and the architectural scale is 5,360m2.

The objective of the project is to create a simple, modern and artistic display space with the application of materials, light, space, lines and pure color lumps and make a perfect combination of functions and forms.

The original aluminum curtain walls are partially replaced with zinc plates with better glossiness and flatness. The direction of the plates is changed from horizontal to vertical splicing, and the length along the curve direction is reduced to make the shape more simple and smooth.

The main entrance and the location with landscape resources are covered with the translucent white glass, while the rest parts are wrapped with wire-drawn steel meshes to effectively hide the opening windows.

By adding a mezzanine floor to reconstruct the spatial structure, the architectural area is increased to 5,360m2. The vertical space of the first floor is separated, and the spirally upward ramp is introduced to the 14m-high space. In this way, the main stress components can be hidden and the functions in the vertical direction of the architecture can be connected.

The large-area glass curtain walls can bring the outdoor scenes into the interior. Visitors can stroll up as if they are on a journey through time and space and have a panoramic view of the outdoor landscape, surrounding buildings and the activities inside the exhibition hall.

The interior is characterized by the light tone, with a large area of blank space full of infinite possibilities. The simple artistic language integrates the space, architecture and feeling to create a comfortable and pleasant environment.
