The Black Lair

While it is important for a home to be relaxing and comfortable, we at Insomnia Designs focus on the deeper psychological aspects that home affects.

The effect of the home on a person's confidence, character, and even decisions is something that we keep in mind while we design every home.



The Black Lair project is not your typical project. It is a rather unique and odd project for a unique and odd client.

We tried to design this home on a deeply personal level. The design is so connected to the client not just based on his preferences but also based on his character. It tells his story and serves a far greater purpose than just decorating his home.



The design is based on Classic French style, but with a TWIST, where we employed all the elements in french style, such as chandeliers, wall moldings, wooden floors, and classic furniture. Our choice of colors, the artwork, and the unique-looking moldings make us feel that it is not a typical French-style home.

The home exudes confidence, eeriness, and rudeness.

It is unapologetic about the lack of seating areas, it sends a clear message that visitors are not welcome. Only a select few will set foot into this home, those who might be deemed worthy by the owner, which gives it an air of exclusivity and privacy.



The combination of the artwork and the dazzling golden molding has a hypnotic or stimulating effect. it recharges confidence and asserts beliefs.



We understand that this project is rather polarizing and is not for everyone. But that is the way we intended it. The unique taste of this design is only for a unique group to appreciate. Despite the darkness and sharpness and even creepiness of this project, beauty and elegance can be found and felt especially by those who can see beauty in the dark.
