OKEBOND R&D Reception Center

The project is located in Taihu Lake in Suzhou, China. Its design concept is the integration of industrial technology and natural environment, expressing deep love for nature! The project is consisted of 4 functional areas: Office, Exhibition Hall, R&D Area, and Reception Room, which applies the right-angle and curved incisions layout in which the space gray symbolizing industrial science and technology and log material with natural sense. The main theme of Exhibition Hall and R&D Area is the sense of calm industrial science and technology. The minimalist light gray cambered wall at the entrance adopts the unique fine sand from the bottom of Taihu Lake, which is finely polished by purely hand-spatulate. The Reception Room shows the sense of warm and natural. It is made of corrosion-resistant and natural-colored Hinoki wood with unique aroma and the traditional Chinese mortise and tenon structure. All the wooden sliding doors and yukimi-shoji screen door are hand-made, giving a panoramic view of Taihu Lake. There is a 6m walnut tea table in the center of the Reception Room, which retains the pure natural wood texture without additional overworking and is equipped with a Chinese Ming-style GuanMao Chair combined Chinese traditional carpentry with nature. The photo wall above the wooden bar counter shows the photography of the project owner who has traveled all over the world for many years and provides a space for the owner to reverie near at hand. There are also bookcases combined with galvanized steel tube and wooden boards and light niches with irregular rhythm, all of which express the combination of modern industry and nature enabling the whole space, in the beautiful scenery of Taihu Lake, present a time-space dialogue that spans modern industrial technology and traditional skills.
