Shunde CR Landmark Waterfront Park

The project is located in Shunde, a place of Guangdong Province that thrives on water and nurtures the locals by boats. It used to be the silk capital of Southern China where the silk reeling industry was prosperous. “A boat of silk goes, a boat of silver dollars returns”. That was a vivid line drawing to show the development history of the past Shunde, a poem to praise those who dare to be the first, and a song of its spirit. It made full research on the natural resources and traditional culture of Shunde and told the past story of boat and river by landscape design. The design team hoped to build a very distinct urban ecological park for the public with local advantageous natural and landscape characteristics and cultural connotations.

Arriving at the park, you will be impressed by the bald cypresses and banyan trees under the reflection of the river, recording the memory of the time and the past. The paths, buildings, trees, ponds and light are connected with lines and blocks, so that a ship of the times full of hope emerges from the water, and white walls and pines grow among trees.

The main entrance is set up with a solemn and concise gatehouse with a curved top opening, enclosed by white walls, to build an entrance space that implies the concept of "round sky and square floor". Landscape and architecture are integrated in the same concept; material, composition and space have their own characteristics but are unified in a harmonious atmosphere. Keeping a solemn and concise tone but not making the moving line too boring is the driving force of the design.

Modern design techniques are used to create a water rafting environment. It takes into account of the interests of every local residents and becomes a public resource that everyone can enjoy equally, which demonstrates the fairness and progress of the society, and is exactly the social value of landscape architecture. Everyone can participate in it and everyone is willing to participate in it.
