Located within the heart of historic Grapevine, this unique hotel pays homage to the city’s history as a wine-producing town. The boutique hotel is part of the Grapevine Main train station development, and our team provided lighting design services for the lobby, bar, restaurant, lounge, private dining, meeting rooms and guest rooms. We encountered challenges such as an aggressive lighting budget, lighting control system changes during construction and a project that lasted more than four years and opened during the pandemic. The project meets and exceeds the 2006 IECC.

Warm wood tones, dark metal panels and brick reminiscent of the historic district are accented to create an inviting backdrop for guests. Millwork lighting is introduced at focal features in the space such as the hotel reception, bar, private dining, and wine display cases to allow the details to shine. Recessed adjustable 2700°K accent lighting is used for artwork, focal tables and accessories throughout. Decorative fixtures, with carefully coordinated 2400°K LED sources, provide warm general illumination. A dimming system is utilized in every public space as well as in adjacent banquet areas. The balance of daylight and artificial light was crucial, particularly with the back wall of windows onto the event lawn. Astronomical time-clock settings and fade times are instrumental in transitioning from day to night. In order to keep the project in budget, extensive value-engineering studies were explored. Review of lighting fixture samples was crucial to this project as we wanted to maintain a high level of visual comfort for guests, while being limited to specification options. On site construction administration was significant and critical to this project as control protocols within lighting fixtures were being updated onsite due to technology updates.
