Dongguan Genzon Science Park

The Dongguan Genzon Science Park is a 20-hectare innovation campus in Marina Bay, an emerging district and international innovation corridor for the Greater Bay Area region. The site is situated to take advantage of the regional transportation and logistics infrastructure and a growing tech community and workforce. The Park is designed to create a holistic development hub that can serve and attract this emerging demographic to maximize the transforming culture. This project aims to fashion an immersive, responsive, and innovative development that creates greater creative and technology synergies.

The project’s diverse mix of designed environments is developed to encourage creativity through inventive, immersive, and inspired ways; social synergies, cultural exchange, and augmented reality are adapted to illustrate new forms for community-based environments. It aims to create a fun and contemporary work culture, allowing skilled Generation Z talent to feel rooted in a socially nimble ecosystem. Innovation happens when seemingly dissimilar ideas meet in surprising ways. Structured based on the UX concept of adapted user interfaces (AUI), the design integrates systematic mapping of individualized activities to facilitate interaction and personalized experiences that enable innovation, productivity, and entertainment.

A series of Loops define the spatial organization of the campus. These connect the campus ecosystem and lead to the key buildings and spaces through development. For example, the Culture Loop links landmarks such as the Crystalline Pavilion and the Temple to create a centralized cultural node. The Social and Entertainment Loops create customized experiences producing a dynamic dialogue between the users and their environments. Vertical integration of the programmatic spaces connects the ground level to the underground commercial basement level; the visual and physical linking of spaces encourage the energetic, youthful vibe to flow throughout the project and be articulated through the designed forms. Dynamic elements and furniture transform the plazas and atriums into outdoor living areas for working, socializing, and celebrating.

The Dongguan Genzon Science Park is grounded in innovation. Inspired by new modes of thinking, working, and living, the project re-envisions a social framework forming a creative community that is responsive to a new generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
