Art of Simplicity

American writer Thoreau once stated: “I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms…” Fascinated by Thoreau’s philosophy of life, the designer has combined this core principle with own professionality to demonstrate it within the spatial design, allowing the natural, peaceful and simple atmosphere to fill the interior.

Not only Thoreau, the famous philosopher, Lao Zi of the Chinese culture also had similar philosophy of life; in Lao Zi’s thoughts, the way from what is beneath abstraction and govern by doing nothing that goes against nature has the same idea, and such principle is slowly deep-rooted in people’s hearts, allowing the life wisdom of great personage to take us in it while following the river of era.

The flowing-water patterned reception counter built with stone welcomes you upon entering, while the discussion section in the background is in architectural concrete; the dignified and conservative atmosphere created using the guest-welcoming pine, solid wood and solitary bird allows the space to reveal a peaceful and tranquil ambience.

The entire space used dark colors as the main color tone, with the addition of elegant and rich spatial colors; the designer fused Thoreau’s philosophy of life with own design principles, using the natural patterns of stone to demonstrate the exquisite spatial texture, and further extracted the natural atmosphere of the rainforest, thereby returning to the nature with loads of natural principles.

Life is like a drop in the ocean as compared to the great universe, but we still need to spend the wonderful moments at home; the prototype housings act as blissful boxes, carrying not only spatial sense of beauty, love and warm trivialities, but further carries a family’s dream and expectation towards the future.
