Chengdu Co-Innovation and Cooperation Center

Surrounding by office buildings, Chengdu Co-Innovation and Cooperation Center is a new paradigm in mixed-use design creativity within constraints. The curvilinear façade of the building counterbalances a high-rise tower to the south, creating a dialogue between the two buildings and integrating itself within the rigid context of the site. The 1,000,000-sf building is a combination of office, hotel and retail space.



We divided the lighting of the building into "inside" and "outside" of the “ring” to give different night atmosphere.



For “outside”, we use flood light to shape the arc shape of the building form, and show the oblique section curtain wall and balcony through the light cove, to strengthen the visual experience of the entrance. The annular outline of the top of the building is outlined by internal light. The linear light arrangement represents the fifth facade, adding a sense of technology and the future under the project's overlooking vision.



For “inside”, due to the enclosed characteristics of the building, the inner Court becomes a space for people to activity and communicate. At the pedestrian scale, the lighting is mainly functional lighting of semi-open space, with plants and waterscape lighting, foil a natural and comfortable commercial atmosphere. The facade of the inner curtain wall simulates the effect of the starry sky by lighting, which presents dynamic changes of different frequencies at different periods. The differentiated lighting expression of the inside and outside also bring a different feeling for the people who enter the inside from the outside. In the inner court, life and footsteps can be slowed down for a moment to enjoy a rare star sky in Chengdu.



The fixtures used are all LED products, which reduce the overall energy consumption and cooperate with the time period control system to make the lighting design of the project more sustainable.
