Lanxi Xingzhi Middle School

Lanxi Xingzhi Middle School is located at the intersection of Jinhua River, Qujiang River and Lanjiang River. The purpose is to create a unique architectural image, our design is the combination of the regional river elements and the image of Sanjiang gravels, meanwhile, a lot of soft curves are used to present the facade of the campus building.

We try to find a different organizational model without breaking the norms and basic functional. Therefore, the library, academic hall, canteen, gymnasium and other large service spaces are placed in the lower part of the building, which vitalizes the space with flexibility and freedom. The favorable vision,good natural light and excellent ventilation are advantageous for the students health growth. It is originated in our design that is the teaching space placed in the upper part of the building. Also, the multiple service spaces at the bottom could be organically integrated together . Between the upper order space and the bottom service space, three-dimensional traffic, picturesque disorder gaming platforms, and communication space everywhere has been structured, which is designed to create a richer and livelier learning communion site for students.

Because the upper doughnut-shaped building is overlong, deformation joints shall be set in accordance with the structural design requirements to be earthquake- resistant and cracking prevention, but if deformation joints are set, it will cause obvious damage to the overall appearance. In consideration of this risk, a variety of calculation software are applied to the anti-seismic analysis and structural performance analysis, and reasonable structural strengthening measures has been adopted. Finally, there is absolutely no effect on structural safety and appearance without deformation joints. Due to the limited cost of the project, the low cost white paint has been adopted by the external wall decoration materials with a layer of anti-fouling and self-cleaning coating on. This nano coating is hydrophobic, which can keep the exterior wall clean effectively, thus the daily maintenance and operation costs can be reduced.
