Veda Slovena

Veda Slovena is inspired by the rustic textures of decaying wood and rust, featuring textiles in cabernet, iron and navy hues. Each piece is crafted using innovative 3D knit technology, resulting in a design, whoose patterns capture the essence of natural decay. The use of an earthy color pallette stems from a fascination with organic decay as a rejuvenating process that creates life anew. The textile manufacturer has become an inspiration and a fitting choice since we share both an appreciation for the great outdoors and the belief in the sustainable approach of making less but more meaningful products.
In its essence, Veda Slovena is about preserving cultural continuity and the knowledge of one’s roots. Our interest lies in how various cultural communities of Eastern Europe all partake in a pool of collective memory, traditions and customs which reflect the ways of life. Despite exhibiting a certain, albeit broader, cultural focus, the project’s message remains wide-ranging and inclusive as it invites into an experience of remembering herritage that everyone creates for themselves, by adding their own context.
To us, design is not a moment, but a plot. It should not be seen as a frame, but as a timeline. Design is what helps us see ourselves in places where we couldn’t on our own. We discover the common roots in our stories and become explolers and creators ourselves in the long thread of cultural herritage that’s been preserved in fabrics.
That is why storytelling plays a key part in communicating this space for empathising with and reimagining a storyline so as to share a sense of belonging together in life, where idiosyncacies hold value if there is reciprocity in respecting them.
