2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taipei | Illuminating Taipei

Central Exhibition Area | Lake Light and Leisure Zone

The Lake Light and Leisure Zone is the only water and ecology exhibition area within the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, with unique trees and ecological environments. For the lantern display, we have invited 11 artists to create 13 sets of works using various forest elements such as water, trees, wind, clouds, light, and earth. These symbolize the interaction between light and the elements of the forest, conveying the spirit of sustainability and vitality that persists in the night of Taipei as one walks into the tranquil forest.

The curatorial theme of this lantern area is "Light Through the Forest Canopy," hoping to convey a sense of warmth and hope for the future, as well as representing the activating energy of renewal and change, just like the blessings conveyed by the lantern festival during the Lantern Festival, where people gather around the light, passing on the light and warmth to the new year.
