Hotel BEGINS Interior Design

It was the largest coal power plant in East Asia for 44 years. Established and built by Japanese during WWII, it had continued service after the transfer to Taiwan Power Company and remained operational till its decommissioning in 1983.
In 1997 National Museum of Marine Science & Technology has chosen the exact location and through creative architectural design this once abandoned ruins has been transformed and becomes today’s NMMST and its greater park within.
Right from the beginning co-existing alongside the power plant are its workers and their families. A vast residential area was built besides the plant with Japanese style houses, schools, parks, hospital, market and a train station for industrial use.
Through cultural heritage of the great Power Plant and its residence, Hotel BEGINS has therefore used design to transform its legacy.
