Yuchanyan Rice Seed Museum

Yuchanyan rice seed museum is located near Shouyan Town, Dao County, Hunan Province, close to yuchanyan site. Yuchanyan site unearthed the world's first artificially cultivated rice specimens and the earliest pottery products. In order to commemorate the discovery of rice seeds, a museum will be built to let more people know the history of human civilization.



The building is located between the two mountains, on the north road leading to the yuchanyan site. The buildings are close to the mountains on both sides, with lanes in the middle. The museum continues and enriches the original tour path and forms a sight corridor with the yuchanyan site. The building is based on the local karst landform characteristics, inherits and echoes the landform features, and connects the two mountains with a slightly raised roof landscape platform to integrate the building with the surrounding environment.



The "rice seed" and "pottery" unearthed from Yuchan rock are the basic elements of the design. "Broken pottery" is stacked into a shape similar to caster landform, integrating history into the site and architecture. "Scattered rice seeds" are sown on the museum as a patio or skylight, making the building itself a part of the exhibition. The meaning and architectural form can be released.



The interior and exterior spaces of the building penetrate into each other, extending the exhibition streamline to the external space of the building and the roof landscape platform. As the end of the streamline, the roof landscape platform looks at the yuchanyan site.



On the whole, the architecture expresses the spatial characteristics of narrative architecture through the multiple romance of spatial situation, achieves the spatial effect of moving scenery, and provides an immersive spatial experience for visitors.
