A Small Building of Leisure

Integrating the idea of Zen into modern design, this project is styled in a balanced, harmonious and relaxing manner to provide a quiet, cozy home for urban people beset by fast-paced life and great pressure. The designer inspired by eastern Zen culture has only adopted the most basic elements required for the space, thereby contributing to spaciousness. Such a home can help users to wash off their stress and to achieve inner peace.

For a simple yet elegant home environment, the space uses warm wood color and pure white supplemented with brown, light gray and other soft colors, offering an visually comfortable experience. Furnishings made of natural wood retain the original appearance of the material without frills, whereby to convey the Zen idea of simplifying the complex. Under the specially designed soft light, the interplay of wood color and clear wood grain is able to make occupants feel as if they were in the embrace of nature.

Drawing reference from eastern landscape architecture, the designer has employed green plants growing in a natural and free way, bamboo weaving art, wooden grills, Chinese landscape paintings, etc. to create a peaceful atmosphere. The open layout, coupled with designs like hollowed-out partitions and grilled wooden sliding doors, renders the space visually roomier.

This aesthetically pleasing space full of unworldly Zen spirit embodies eastern Zen philosophy, and advocates a peaceful, leisurely lifestyle.
