The Sky Dome

THE SKY DOME, a tailgate tent for NIO electric vehicles, represents an innovative exploration undertaken by NIO Life OUTDOOR with the vision of "revolutionizing the outdoor lifestyle with NIO EVs". The primary goal set for this design is to transform each NIO model into a "home away from home" where NIO owners and their travel companions can relish a comfortable and convenient outdoor lifestyle.

This design skillfully captures the natural spectacle — a mesmerizing halo created by the light refraction in the atmosphere, visually embodying the curvature of the sky.

Equipped with NIO's self-developed OXY+ system for rapid inflation using NIO EVs, THE SKY DOME can be effortlessly set up within 10 minutes and packed away just as quickly. Once set up, the one-piece air support structure is not only lightweight but also exceptionally robust, which can withstand winds up to level 6. Moreover, the fabrics used excels in sun protection and waterproofing. Its exterior boasts a 2000mm waterproof rating, while the groundsheet achieves a 3000mm leakage protection rating. UPF 50+ is also ensured, safeguarding users against harmful sun rays. For added comfort, it has been specially treated with a thermal insulating black TPU coating, effectively blocking out sun rays to keep the interior temperature constant and comfortable.

THE SKY DOME utilizes NIO's original connecting structure, which incorporates guy ropes for a reinforcement effect while employing an embedded design to create a continuous and unimpeded interior space between the tent and the vehicle. Not only does this design improve the airflow from the AC system of the EV into the tent, but it also creates an unobstructed path between the two spaces. Furthermore, the open-ended design greatly enhances its practicality. It can function as a freestanding ground tent when disconnected from the NIO EV. The sleeve at the connection part and the tent flaps on both sides can be independently propped up with poles, serving as canopies to shield users from rain and sunlight while also increasing the overall space by 70%. With its versatility, ample room, and practicality, THE SKY DOME undoubtedly qualifies as a must-have for campers.
