2023 Nanzhuang Flower Festival

“Embracing Leisurely pace” is the main subject of the 2023 Nanzhuang Flower Festival, and compares the alley to a traveler’s picture book to jointly proceed with the creation along with elders in local long-term care units, local craftsmen, and community residents. The specific slow traveling environment, “The international slow city,” is present; five installation art units were established when the traveler comes to the place and will go slowly to their own time.

The planning of the festival this year connects local featured culture, and the environment of streets and lanes in communities was influenced by the establishment of the installation art and the flower’s layout. This year's main installation combines “The Treasure of Time,” made by the local bamboo weave craftsmen. We considered that the local elders might have a problem with their visual acuity and limb agility, so we applied the simple art of rope weave and do-a-dot colored painting instead. In the streets and alleys where people live daily in Baihualiao (the hut with abundance and varieties of flowers) designed “the net of time” In the local renowned attraction - KangJi suspension bridge, the rope weave art creation “A Moment of Air” is jointly made by elders and the craftsmen.

To take sustainable spirit as the core with the combination of beautifying the community, to jointly create with the local residence, green long-term care, local featured culture, the multiple elements, the very first time to fabricate flower festival with the curation of anesthetic in streets and alleys as the main subject, and develop even more possibility to combine local organizations for cultural creation.
