The product SIDEBOARD PARAHYBA had brought concepts to this universe of furnitures, the geographical and natural references its origin place, Paraíba. This tropical state in northeastern Brazil, takes its name from (Tupi), the original language of the traditional indigenous inhabitants who lived there and which means river or sea in the region that is difficult to navigate. These main references lead us to research and focusing this project into the indigenous influence on culture and the organic forms of the local natural geography. The handmade weaving of straw in handicrafts and architecture, the encounters of beach vegetation and Atlantic forest with river and sea waters typical of the region, lead us to define tha bases, the forms and materials to design this object. The whole project is based on a structural metal construction with slender and delicate feet that support two or more levels; shelves with different organic formats and hights. In each surface is possible to insert sheets of the same or different materials, which can be opaque or transparent, promoting the passage of light and shadows. About the materials, it is possible to explore the use of the straw mat, which is a very characteristic item in Brazil, glass sheets, cut wood sheets or even stone slabs. These materials fitted in the sinuous and random shapes of this object, promote customizations and versatility of the product and different combinations to the needs in the decoration planning. The use of braided straw on a horizontal surface, was decided to use them in a glass sandwich. The use of plywood sheets, due to their smaller sizes, offers a sustainable aspect in the company since it can be used based on the use of wasted materials from the day-to-day factory production.
The Parahyba sideboard is a product of genuine value capable of bringing identification by users in the context of life that seeks tropicality, sophistication and a lot of brazilian lifestyle.
