Fu Lu Chang Jiu

The word "fulu" sounds similar to "hulu"( a plant, gourd) in Chinese, which is a traditional auspicious item in Chinese culture and was commonly used as a wine vessel in ancient times. This wine dispenser ingeniously divides the shape of a gourd into a jade pot and a water tank-shaped wine cup. ( The water tank is a common fire-fighting facility for storing water in the courtyards of Shanxi merchants.)The wine is poured into the jade pot while drinking from the "water tank " cup on top. When the two parts are combined, they create a complete gourd shape, symbolizing good fortune, prosperity, and longevity, and that the more one drinks, the more blessings they will receive. Additionally, the four scales on the wine pot are marked with "fu" ( good futune), "lu" ( prosperity), "chang" ( longevity), and "jiu" ( longevity), further enhancing the interaction while drinking. Guests can match their drinking progress to each corresponding label, experiencing the special and delightful taste, regardless of the quality of the wine.
