Nanping Kaoting Ancient Street White Crane Academy

This project is located in Kaoting Village, Jianyang District, Nanping City, Fujian Province, a place where Zhu Xi, a famous thinker and educator of the Song Dynasty, lectured here in his later years, this place is so-called the source of the Kaoting School of thought.
Kaoting Ancient Street brings together several traditional residences that showcase the distinct characteristics of the Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Anhui regions, offering an epitome of southern Chinese residences from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The White Crane architectural complex within is composed of three wooden buildings of various sizes and designs. It serves as a significant starting point for visitors to explore the Kaoting Scenic Spots.
From the onset of its design, the planners intended to break away from the conventional entrance design styles, aiming to introduce a uniquely surprising architectural ensemble of the future. Thus, the central design philosophy locates on ‘Ancient Charm Reborn, Ovelapping of History and Modernity’. Contemporary elements are incorporated while preserving the complete wooden architecture, revitalizing the buildings, and breathing new life into the entire street.
