The National Museum of Natural Science (NMNS) is one of the most popular science museums in Taiwan, attracting over 3 million visitors annually. To help visitors better understand the exhibition, the National Museum of Natural Science(NMNS) and Cultural Path and Bright Ideas jointly developed the "NMNS XR Phygital Museum Guided System”, making visiting the museum as fun as watching a movie.

Visitors can scan the area with a tablet to see interesting 3D animations appear next to real animal specimens or integrated into ecological scenes. This system uses LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) to scan the position and shape of objects in the exhibition, so that text, photos, videos, and 3D animations can be accurately positioned on real specimens and scenes.

Phygital refers to the fusion of physical and digital, combining the real world with the virtual world to create a more interactive and more interesting experience. This system uses precise space mapping technology to highly integrate virtual images with real objects and scenes. In addition to learning about more than 150 animals, plants, and birds in the exhibition, visitors can also get a more vivid, immersive, and richer educational guide experience.

(1) Precisely blend digital information with the real world
Using LiDAR to senses the distance and shape of objects around the audience, and accurately mapping the location of virtual 3D objects.

(2) Digitally amplify the physical exhibition context
XR technology is used to amplify the scene and enrich the situational atmosphere, making the audience feel like walking into various ecological regions.

(3) Observe animal and plant patterns from multiple angles
Anchor virtual scenes and 3D models to real-world coordinates, allowing visitors to explore and observe animals and plants from different distances and angles.

(4) Take photos on the XR Experience Journey
Photos can be taken from any angle to record the interaction with the phygital animals and plants.

(5) Bilingual commentary
Visitors can use the virtual window to switch between Chinese or English commentary to meet the needs of international and local audiences.
