Planning and Landscape Design Project of Youfangping Village

Design Description: Across the Ba River from Yushan lies the project site. It is situated in the watershed of the 72 valleys at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains. Mountains and the basin's waterside around the place.

A public place with a sense of restriction and an interface that directs the view of the mountains are created by the semi-indoor, permeable space. The rustic stone masonry used to construct the pavilion's façade is inspired by the mountainous terrain of the Qinling Range. A spatial structure that links labor and the traditional way of life is created by the escalator on one side of the pavilion connecting the porch and the field. The picture display of the village's main entrance is taken into account in the design together with the purpose of crowd activities. To create a recognizable picture of the entrance space and to direct the flow of people coming from outside, a guiding retaining wall is first constructed. The village sign is also put up to provide the community a distinctive identity that is visible from all angles. To give the residents a more cozy place to converse, a new pavilion was constructed. This topography and the pavilion corridor are connected to create an intense environment with rich variations and significant participation. This is accomplished by integrating steps and tree pools to dissolve the steepness of the original location.

With the purpose of "smoke rising" from the deep mountain village, the design is influenced by the traditional chimneys in the village of Yufangping, portraying a typical image of farming civilisation and rural customs.
