Tianjin Sports Institute North Jinmao Mansio (Demo Plot)

Situated in the Hexi District, Tianjin, the demonstration plot of Tianjin Sports Institute North Jinmao Mansion is considered as an excellent work of the landscape design team in seamlessly blending the traditional eastern courtyard culture and the art of gardening with modern design principles. From an oriental ritual space perspective, the project reconstructs the essence of the traditional courtyard layout and extracts a series of interconnected and intricately layered courtyard spaces. Through the rearrangement and design of elements such as the entrance, courtyards, and corridors, a well-defined spatial sequence and flow path are formed. The entrance features a symbolic gateway tower, which serves not only as a landmark distinguishing the interior and exterior spaces but also as a starting point to convey the essence of eastern culture. The pathway leading to the main courtyard is adorned with water features and delicate plantings, creating a serene and thought-provoking transitional space that signals the entrance to an elegant living environment. The main courtyard is centered around a captivating water feature, surrounded by selected vegetation and stones. Water, a core element in the design, symbolizes the beauty of nature and fosters interaction and harmony within the living space. The winding corridors encompassing flowing water connect different functional areas and provide a traffic route for walking around. The project is intended to create a landscape space that is coherent to "eastern ideas expressed in modern context". Through its unique design treatments and delving into detail, the project not only serves as a residential community but also offers a dwelling where one can truly experience the refined art of eastern living.
