BAYOU CREEK LEISURE FARM

“BAYOU CREEK LEISURE FARM” is located in an urban state in Malaysia, a hot & humid country. In this project, we employ traditional & local architectural elements, such as natural materials coupled with a variety of tropical plants. When people enter the house, it does not feel like an ordinary building but rather like a comfortable vacation spot, which is our client’s brief: to design a retreat-like environment for families to enjoy their leisure time while staying here.

The dominant element, timber, has been used extensively throughout the house, adding warmth to the spaces. For instance, to walk into the living hall from the entrance, one must pass through the hallway, with wood panels & the LED water wave wall light aligned left & right, giving the impression of walking through trees and rivers. The dry kitchen & dining area, as the special spaces in this house, also have a strong nature-themed concept, with stone feature walls, timber ceiling, and wooden furniture catalyzing this design. These factors strongly indicate a characteristic of them to separate from the living area.

The existence of the indoor landscape provides a wonderful balance between man-made structures and the natural landscape, forming a calming corner adjacent to the dining, socializing, and gathering area while also separating the adverse conditions brought by nature.

To bring natural light and ventilation into the house, this bungalow has large windows and sliding glass door panels in most areas. Also, the walls at the reading corner, family hall & master bedroom balcony are designed to look like a picture frame that outlines the landscape to make the spaces feel enclosing to nature and create a sense of harmony between indoor and outdoor views.

This bungalow is a symphony of practical yet charming spaces with perfect particulars, and tropical melody, embodying the warm textures of the design in the end. The concept is presented in both open spaces & private spaces via their wall & floor finishes, ceiling design, and lighting layout. Their reactions have created a visual attraction throughout the building, making it a relaxing place to accommodate.
