In lieu of the conventional linear workflow for pre-planned structures, Improv-Structure spearheads a groundbreaking approach—a real-time collaborative construction experience. In this innovative process, humans and two ABB industrial robotic arms unite to design and fabricate a bamboo pavilion on-site, making decisions collectively. The robotic arms dynamically propose bamboo placement in mid-air based on Lidar scans, complemented by human intervention as bamboo sticks are added to connect the constructed elements with the proposed design segments. This interplay between human craft and robotic actuation affords the construction team an expansive canvas for creativity, adaptability, and immersive design.
