TAO ZHU YIN YUAN - Residential Courtyard Landscape

At the ground level, a circular architectural structure stands at the center of a square site, surrounded by the courtyard landscape. The arrangement of the boulders and trees and the undulating landform create a meandering and secluded atmosphere. This design enhances spatial depth, preventing the garden from being appreciate at a single glance. While simultaneously enriching users' recreational experiences with a multi-dimensional garden space.

In the 50-meter-long, 9-meter-wide patio on the east side of the courtyard, natural stones and plants are utilized to create six cascading waterfalls with heights ranging from 7 to 9 meters and a total width of 40 meters. Various vegetation, including pines, cypresses, ferns, and others, are interspersed among the waterfalls, resembling cascades in a natural forest and portraying a dynamic landscape painting.

In response to the urgent challenges of climate change, the design respects climate data and the natural environment. To enhance green coverage and carbon sequestration, in the spiraling architecture, each residential unit's balcony has planted trees and vegetation, bringing "nature" into the building. A 270-degree three-dimensional garden covers the whole structure, creating a vertical forest standing in the city. The site planted 23,000 trees and shrubs in total, capable of annual carbon dioxide sequestration of around 130 tons, achieving a green coverage rate of 246%.
