“I dream that the spaces could be pneumatic, transformable, transportable from one place to another.”— Getulio Alviani

‘Responsive Vision: Getulio Alviani’ at ALIEN Art Centre passes on the artistic spirit of Getulio Alviani. Through curation, themes, key visual designs, venue layout, the combination of works and space, and interactive installations, barriers among media, settings, and time are wiped with arranged elements ranging from surface, 3D space, separate materials to overall structures. The exhibition, thus, can be understood through linearity, geometry, color, and programing.

The exhibition integrates Alviani’s insights and originality into the building structure of ALIEN Art Centre, where the placement of polygons facilitates angle changes. In semi-open spaces, for another, the change of natural light and shadow is cleverly set out, presenting two-dimensional creations through four-dimensional spaces that highlight time and perception. Viewers, in this way, are invited to heighten their senses like widening a keyhole, through which the future they visualize is embodied.

The theme and the design of texts come from paces of time and proximity space, echoing the art pieces serving as an intersection of time and space. With circles and squares crafted into the title, the two lines come in different thicknesses for visual presentations with ongoing changes. The key visual, on the other hand, is an art piece that features squares and circles in shapes as well as reality and virtual spaces in ideas. The gradient presents the luster of the material, where light can be found between the lines of grayscale.

Alviani valued his works integrated with elements of life, just as he savored dialogues in different fields. In honor of this, the exhibition is curated to feature cross-border dialogues engaged in between Alviani’s works and modern designer furniture inspired also by Bauhaus style. A space for living is built thereby. To add the icing on the cake, an art menu, also influenced by Alviani, is composed to show the multidimensional perception often found in Alviani’s works. Viewers are allowed to play with dimensional spaces with multisensory experiences presented in tastes and different arrangements of the colored pieces.
