Witnessing the City's History Within the City
The Old Fongshan City Wall Historic Route is an elevated pedestrian pathway winding through urban spaces, guiding visitors to immerse themselves in the metropolitan ambiance while experiencing the grandeur and historical imprints of Taiwan's first stone city. Together, it bears witness to the illustrious history spanning 300 years of the Old Fongshan City. Stretching nearly 800 meters, this elevated pathway connects the East Gate to the North Gate of the ancient city, elevating visitors approximately 4 to 6 meters above ground, offering glimpses of ancient city walls amidst the ever-evolving historical landscape. It's as if layers of urban scenery from different eras are stacked beneath one's feet, turning visitors into voyagers through time and space.
Symbiotic Lighting Design with the Environment
Surrounded by tree canopies, the structure of the aerial walkway seamlessly integrates into the urban landscape. During nighttime, intentionally subdued lighting scales down illumination using small fixtures integrated with the railing structure on the walkway itself. This approach minimizes disruption to the surrounding ecological environment while forming continuous visual pathways. At road crossings, lighting is deliberately enhanced along the exterior of the walkway, leaving a mark on the urban texture and deepening the pathway's impression in the lives of city residents. It serves as a crucial link in Kaohsiung, connecting cultural history with tourism development.
